About Risa and Jude, the creators of the Sing into Reading Text Converter:
A Mother-Son Team
I'm Risa Beth Cohen, M.S.Ed., Founder of Sing into Reading, where you can teach your child to read with music and love. I teach literacy through music and movement. In 2010, I began teaching at a Montessori school, where letter differentiation was explicitly taught through the Montessori materials. In the moveable alphabet and the sandpaper letters, consonants are consistently red (or pink) and vowels are blue. I began writing my own text to match the materials, using blue vowels and red consonants in my charts for shared reading, name tags, and folders. Changing markers while writing had to be re-done often, as I invariably made mistakes. And manually changing the font colors of every character in a word document was so tedious and time-consuming, it was not feasible.
Fortunately, I have a whiz-kid for a son...
I would like to introduce you to my son, Jude Lingan, the brain behind the text converter. Jude is a sixteen-year-old with an affinity for computer science. I asked him to build me a program to convert text to match the Montessori materials - with blue vowels and red consonants - and he did! The program is still in beta.
For a limited time, you can use it for FREE!!!
In return, please let us know about any bugs you find or issues you have so that Jude can fix them. And it would mean the world to us if you could write or record a review of the program.
